Vertical Cellular Shades
Advances in technology and style have brought about alternatives to traditional vertical blinds and homeowners now have options when choosing window coverings for patio doors and long windows. Cellular shades, also known as Honeycomb shades, are well known for their modern look and contemporary feel, now come in styles that run on a horizontal axis much like traditional vertical blinds.
Traditional cellular shades trap air in cells, or honeycombs, that run horizontally across the window when the shade is pulled shut. Unlike regular cellular shades, however, the air pockets of vertical shades run vertically along the window or door. When the vertical cellular shade is pulled shut, the air pockets expand and trap air between the glass door and the rest of the room. Just like regular cellular shades, this feature helps insulate your home against energy loss and acts as a noise barrier as well.
Many vertical cellular shades use cordless manual systems to open and shut the shades, giving you an elegant look without the safety hazard of long cords. Some companies also feature motorized systems that can control the vertical cellular shades via remote control.
Vertical cellular shades also give you the option of coordinating all the window shades in one room. They come in a variety of colors and opacities and some manufacturers offer different cell or honeycomb sizes to help match window treatments and optimize energy efficiency. Vertical cellular shades are not only ideal for patio and glass doors, but are perfect for long windows or even room dividers
